Proven at Global Scale

WaterSurplus technologies are trusted at the world’s largest and most demanding water treatment facilities, where performance, reliability, and scale are non-negotiable. The company’s selection for several landmark projects underscores why its solutions have been recognized on the Global Water Intelligence shortlist.

ImpactRO™ has been deployed at the world’s largest beverage manufacturing plant, enabling high-recovery reverse osmosis operations at an unprecedented scale. At this facility, ImpactRO supports reliable, high-throughput production with performance guarantees on 90%+ recovery rates.

NanoStack™ has also been selected for installation at the Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System, the largest water reuse project in the world. In this advanced reuse application, NanoStack’s bioinspired membrane surface modification helps protect membranes from scaling and fouling, supporting long-term performance, system efficiency, and operational resilience in one of the most critical potable reuse facilities globally.

These real-world deployments highlight the tangible impact of WaterSurplus technologies and provide the foundation for the company’s nomination as Global Water Intelligence Water Technology Company of the Year.

Technologies Driving the Nomination

The Global Water Intelligence shortlist highlights not just the company’s vision but also the strength of its technology portfolio. WaterSurplus’s nomination is driven by the combined impact of three core membrane-based innovations, ImpactRO, NanoStack, and NanoScope.

ImpactRO™ High Recovery Reverse Osmosis

Watersurplus Front

ImpactRO is WaterSurplus’s advanced reverse osmosis platform designed to maximize water recovery while minimizing energy use, membrane fouling, and chemical demand. Traditional RO systems often face a tradeoff between recovery rates and system reliability. ImpactRO breaks that barrier through proprietary system design, optimized hydraulics, and advanced control strategies.

By achieving significantly higher recoveries in a steady-state design, ImpactRO enables facilities to reduce freshwater intake and brine disposal volumes, extend membrane life, and improve operational stability. This makes ImpactRO especially valuable for industries facing rising water costs or disposal constraints.

NanoStack™ Bioinspired Membrane Surface Modification

NanoStack is WaterSurplus’ super-hydrophilic membrane surface modification that dramatically improves membrane resistance to scaling, fouling, and biological adhesion. By mimicking mechanisms found in natural systems, NanoStack permanently enhances membrane surface characteristics to prevent foulants from adhering and accumulating at the membrane surface.

Unlike conventional chemical pretreatment or frequent clean-in-place strategies that react after fouling occurs, NanoStack addresses the root cause by making membrane surfaces inhospitable to scale and foulants, and extremely cleanable after flux loss, recovering up to 100% of flux after a CIP. This results in more stable long-term performance, reduced cleaning frequency, lower chemical usage, and extended membrane life.

NanoStack is compatible with all polymeric membrane elements, including UF, MF, NF, and RO membranes, and performs extraordinarily well across a wide range of applications and water chemistries. Its impact is particularly significant in high-fouling or high-recovery environments, where conventional membranes often struggle to maintain productivity and reliability.

NanoScope™ Smart Monitoring and Diagnostics

NanoScope Inside

NanoScope is WaterSurplus’ intelligent monitoring and analytics platform, providing greater visibility and control for complex water treatment systems. By integrating direct membrane monitoring, data analytics, and remote insights, NanoScope helps operators predict, prevent, and reverse membrane fouling in real time.

The result is improved uptime, reduced maintenance costs, and data-driven decision-making that supports long-term asset performance. NanoScope reinforces WaterSurplus’s commitment to pairing advanced hardware with equally advanced digital intelligence.

Looking Ahead

Being shortlisted for Water Technology Company of the Year is a meaningful milestone for WaterSurplus, but it is also a reaffirmation of the company’s mission. WaterSurplus remains focused on delivering reliable, scalable solutions that help customers conserve water, reduce risk, and achieve their sustainability goals.

The company is honored to be recognized alongside other innovators at the Global Water Summit in Madrid and looks forward to continuing its work in shaping the future of water technology worldwide.
