Engineering and Process Solutions

WaterSurplus routinely solves customer issues through a focused lens of conservative water engineering and proven best practices. In a time of growing water scarcity, our engineering team helps provide a consistent track record that balances operational efficiency and corporate responsibility.

Custom Engineered Systems

We frequently work on challenging process water systems that require creative engineering process flow diagrams and customized membrane system designs. Our reliable custom engineered systems will help you optimize your plant while addressing regulatory demands and sustainability goals.

Icons Design

Design

Design site specific solutions rooted in operational efficiency and sustainability, such as membrane fouling mitigation and RO efficiency including reduction in energy, brine, and antiscalants while achieving membrane life extension.

Icons Test

Pilot Test

Pilot test to achieve national and local effluent guidelines to minimize operational risk and reduce OPEX and CAPEX.

Icons Validate

Validate

Validate our solutions through third party pilot plant testing. Additionally, we quantify the value of the design related cost savings and production improvements.

Icons Optimize

Optimize

Optimize site specific processes with our designed solutions to manage energy, antiscalant chemicals, brine discharge, membrane cleaning frequency, and filtration backwash requirements to minimize OPEX.

Icons Train

Train

Provide training for plant personnel to operate new systems safely and efficiently, ultimately minimizing plant downtime and reducing plant overhead.

Icons Propose Execute

Propose & Execute

Propose a trusted method to design, build, fabricate, and startup a custom water treatment solution based on our pilot test results.

Turnkey Solutions

Our diverse team of subject matter experts has proven valuable to many fortune 100 companies who choose to outsource the design and installation of their entire water treatment facility. Working directly with the OEM allows for effective communication and overall project affordability.

On turnkey projects we typically act as the general contractor, activating our exceptional stable of mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering subcontractors with focused expertise in the food and beverage industry. But our team will also work with larger engineering, procurement, and construction firms when the situation calls for it.

Pre-Engineered Systems

Our Sustainably Engineered Solutions

Catalytic Media Filtration Systems

Our pre-engineered portfolio includes filtration and membrane technologies. Our catalytic filtration media add efficiencies that reduce groundwater treatment project cost and size by up to 50% while reducing backwash wastewater volumes. In addition to stocking catalytic media, we have pre-engineered systems in stock that can considerably reduce delivery times.

These systems are designed to meet the unique needs of municipalities, and other large-scale water treatment operations treating PFAS, iron, manganese, and radium.

High Efficiency Impact RO

Our revolutionary series of reverse osmosis systems are engineered to deliver in ways never before seen in the industry. The patented technology behind these systems allows you to optimize your treatment operation for high recovery or high efficiency depending on your needs. In either case, you’ll realize significantly reduced costs for antiscalant, energy use, and water to drain, ultimately decreasing water footprint. We have full-scale pilot systems available.

  • Reduced brine concentrate
  • Reduced energy consumption
  • Reduced antiscalant chemical requirements
  • Reduced costly downtime for offline membrane cleaning

The WaterSurplus Philosophy

The recruiting of subject-matter experts to the ranks of WaterSurplus has driven our careful expansion over the decades and remains our key to success in the future. While satisfied customers frequently ask us to help them address ever more complex water treatment needs, we only proceed when we have the human capital in place and ready to go. Our collaborative and innovative business model only works because of the commitment of our team to find or develop optimal solutions to our customer’s needs.

Our Team

Customers tell us that the reason they keep coming back is that we deliver superior value with every project. From innovative treatment solutions to brand-agnostic supply recommendations and investment recovery, our subject-matter experts listen to the needs of our customers, probe for information that will help them make the strongest possible recommendation, and then trust our customers to make the right decision for their needs. With access to the top brands in the world, our own innovative solutions, and the widest selection of top-quality surplus equipment, our customers know that we will help them find the very best solution.

Innovation

Advancing sustainability has been a core part of our philosophy at WaterSurplus since the beginning. Be that by pushing the boundaries of water recovery in reverse osmosis, developing systems that require significantly fewer antiscalant chemicals, recycling and/or refurbishing equipment, membrane elements, and resin, or licensing catalytic filtration media that require half the footprint of a traditional media system. Our expert team is continually seeking (and finding) value for our stakeholders while pursuing more sustainable processes.
