Job Profile Summary
Responsible for designing, directing and coordination of valves, pumps, skids, instruments, and general mechanical engineering for all products including new, rental fleet, surplus assets, and investment recovery.
Essential Functions
- Designs or reviews customer specifications to assure project specifications are compatible with company capabilities.
- Completes mechanical engineering design for piping, tanks, valves, pumps and other components along with skid design, layout and development for general water treatment equipment.
- Engineers projects, selecting and designing mechanical hardware, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and supporting the integration of technical activities.
- Negotiates with customers to approve product designs and changes. Presents and explains proposals, reports, or findings to customers.
- Confers with functional areas and production staff to discuss project specifications and or procedures to fulfill customer requirements.
- Prepares sales estimating tools for new, rental, surplus contracts and responds to customer questions as necessary regarding mechanical equipment design, layout and process integrity.
- Reviews, assigns, directs, and evaluates contractor work, and oversees the development and design staff workload and assignments regarding mechanical aspects of system.
- Performs administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, O&M manuals, creating purchasing requisitions and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
- Can create CAD drawings for skid, tanks and piping layouts and/or provide sketches and details for CAD design staff to create drawings as needed.
- Travels occasionally (< 15%) to field work sites to inspect, repair or test equipment.
- Performs startup services including supervising installation and follow-up service calls along with training for customers as required to fulfill contract requirements with regard to mechanical design and equipment/component operation.
- Prepares cost estimates and supports sales proposal development for new and existing customers with regard to mechanical components.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- M. S. in Mechanical Engineering
- Two years of engineering experience in the water and wastewater treatment industry.
- Experience should include the following:
- Six months of experience with Reverse Osmosis Membrane manufacturer’s projection software including, GE-WindFlow, Dow-ROSA, Hydranautics-IMS design and Toray-DS2.
- One year of experience with AutoCAD software.
- Two years in a shop or fabrication environment working pipe fitting, electrical, welding and equipment assembly.Â
- One and a half years of experience with MS Project for scheduling.
